Description The “Collection of the Minerals Originating from R. Macedonia” was opened on 10 October 2014 at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MASA) building by the formal speech by Prof. Dr. Blažo Boev. In his speech, Prof. Boev pointed out that practically all information regarding scientific achievements in the fields of mineralogy, crystallography and spectroscopy on more than 80 different minerals from Macedonia have recently been published in the comprehensive monograph titled: “Minerals from R. Macedonia with an Introduction to Mineralogy”.

The Mineral Collection at the MASA includes more than 150 mineral specimens collected from more than 50 different localities within R. Macedonia. All visitors were fascinated by the beauty of the mineral crystals that are displayed in the best designed mineral collection in Macedonia, although the mineral collection at the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University contains a larger number of mineral specimens (around 400) and mineral species (around 80).

Entrance to both mineral collections is free for all visitors.

A “Thank-you letter” was issued by MASA and delivered to Acad. Gligor Jovanovski, Prof. Dr. Blažo Boev and Prof. Dr. Petre Makreski.
