Description | The IYCr2014 Latin American Summit Meeting on Biological Crystallography and Complementary Methods will provide a forum intended to stimulate the application of crystallography to complex biological phenomena thought a series of scientific presentations. The opening lecture will be given by Nobel Laureate Ada Yonath (Israel). The participation of about 50 Latin American scientists is expected for the event, including representatives from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela and Mexico amongst other countries. In total, there will be about 130 attendees. The Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) – part of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) in Campinas will host the summit, and the choice of venue seems particularly appropriate for Latin America, considering that LNLS is currently constructing Sirius, the new Brazilian synchrotron source, which represents the potential of the region to become a major player in structural biology in the future. |
