The support used is a cluster of smooth wood on a rigid wooden frame, treated with a base of white paint. On top of it, the geometric structure that shapes the overall design was marked in pencil. The quartz crystal was painted with a picture reference. 

The picture (right-click on the thumbnail to see a larger image) was especially drawn to participate in a painting contest organized by the Instituto Balseiro, San Carlos de Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina, and unfortunately was not selected for the exhibition. That is why I decided to share it on this site as this is the International Year of Crystallography.
